Our Background and Mission

Our Background

This is personal to us. Founded in 1999, the Enright Melanoma Foundation is dedicated to the memory of Joseph E. Enright, MD, a Summit Medical Group (NJ) internist, who lost his battle with malignant melanoma at the early age of 37, leaving a wife and young children. We are unique in that our foundation is a doctor-led prevention-focused organization, created with knowledge and passion by Joe’s colleagues, to foster increased awareness of melanoma in our community.

Our Mission

Our mission is to raise sun safety awareness and to help prevent melanoma through education and early detection.

Our Programs and Services

With skin cancer rates rapidly increasing, there is an enormous need to educate young people, and the people who influence them, about the dangers of over exposure to the sun and ultraviolet radiation.  The Enright Melanoma Foundation is transforming how youth and young adults learn about sun safety! Our philosophy: the sun doesn’t have to be scary. We believe that properly educating children and adults about sun safety awareness will allow them to enjoy the many benefits the sun has to offer while being protected. We provide free, online Enright Sun Safety Certification ™ programs for ages 5 and over. You can participate in this first-of-a-kind program at:
